HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE A HYGIENE APPOINTMENT?

I recommend coming for an appointment every six months. Patients who build up calculus faster or have specific gum diseases are advised to come every three months.

WHAT DOES A HYGIENE APPOINTMENT CONSIST OF?

A hygiene appointment with Dr Mike involves removing the hard bacterial deposits (calculus) from around the gum line. In addition external stains are removed leaving your teeth sparkling and feeling fresh.

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYGIENE AND TOOTH WHITENING?

Yes. A hygiene appointment will remove external stains and deposits. After the appointment your teeth are spotlessly clean. Tooth whitening also removes internal stains and leaves your teeth looking significantly whiter.

WILL HYGIENE ALSO HELP REDUCE BLEEDING GUMS?

Absolutely. Bleeding gums is caused by inflammation. The hygiene appointment together with improved oral hygiene at home will reduce the inflammation and eliminate the bleeding. As part of the hygiene appointment, we’ll show you the most modern techniques and cleaning aids to help you keep your teeth clean and your smile dazzling forever.

IS A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING DANGEROUS IN PREGNANCY?

Not at all. During pregnancy, gum inflammation is more likely- a professional cleaning is highly recommended.
