WHICH TEETH ARE CANDIDATES FOR ZIRCONIA CROWNS?

Zirconia crowns are recommended for teeth that require protection. These include teeth following root canal treatment, very dark front teeth and teeth with multiple fillings or build ups.

DO THEY LOOK NATURAL ON FRONT TEETH?

Absolutely. Zirconia crowns look extremely natural in your smile and eliminate the black metal “collar” next to the gum line that is common with conventional front crowns.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

You will need two appointments. The first appointment involves shaping your tooth to be crowned, taking an impression and fitting a temporary crown. In addition, the laboratory technician will choose a colour to match your natural teeth. Two weeks later, your zirconia crown will be ready from the laboratory for Dr Mike to cement on with a special glue.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PORCELAIN CROWNS AND VENEERS?

Crowns cover the whole of the tooth and are recommended when the front or back teeth need maximum protection. Veneers are much thinner, require far less tooth removal and are placed for aesthetic improvement on the outside of front teeth only.
