ARE WHITE FILLINGS AS STRONG AS METAL FILLINGS?

Yes. White fillings placed correctly are extremely strong and a substitute for metal fillings. Their strength have improved significantly in the last 20 years

HOW LONG DO WHITE FILLINGS LAST?

That depends on their size and how hard you bite. However, in my experience. white fillings last as long as metal fillings and seldom need replacing in the first 10 years after placement.

I KNOW METAL FILLINGS CONTAIN MERCURY. ARE WHITE FILLINGS SAFER?

You’re right,silver -coloured (amalgam) fillings are made of a combination of metals such as silver, tin, copper and mercury. White fillings -also called composite fillings- are completely safe and do not contain any metals.

WILL CAVITIES INCREASE IN SIZE WHEN METAL FILLINGS ARE CONVERTED TO WHITE FILLINGS?

No. Dr Mike will remove the metal fillings extremely carefully so that the cavity will remain the same size.
